What is Employer of Record (EOR)?

Employer of Record, or EOR, is a model in which a local partner formally employs a person on behalf of your company.

In practice, the employee works as part of your team. You define their role, manage their daily work, set priorities and integrate them into your organization. Team Up acts as the formal employer in Poland and takes care of the local employment layer.

This includes payroll, HR administration, employment documentation, medical checks, holiday administration and employment-related formalities.

EOR is especially useful when you want to hire employees in Poland, but you do not yet have a Polish legal entity.

Who is Team Up EOR for?

Team Up EOR is designed for international technology companies that want to hire employees in Poland without starting with a full local setup.

It is a good fit if you:

- want to hire your first employees in Poland,
- are testing Poland as a tech talent market,
- plan to open an engineering hub or R&D centre,
- need to employ people before your Polish entity is ready,
- have already selected candidates and need a local employer,
- want to combine recruitment with employment and payroll support,
- need a temporary employment setup before transferring people to your own company.

Team Up works best with product-driven tech companies, SaaS organizations, R&D teams, start-ups and scale-ups developing their own technology. This is consistent with Team Up’s broader positioning around supporting international technology companies and R&D centres growing in Poland.

When does EOR make sense?

Employer of Record is a good choice when speed, flexibility and local compliance matter.

It can help you:

- start hiring in Poland faster,
- avoid setting up a local company too early,
- reduce the need for local HR and payroll infrastructure,
- test the Polish talent market,
- employ people before your own entity is ready,
- create a transition phase before opening a Polish company,
- support the first stage of building an engineering hub.

What you manage, what we handle

In the EOR model, responsibilities are shared between Team Up and your company.

Team Up handles the formal employment layer: employment documentation, payroll, HR administration, medical checks, holidays and employment-related formalities.

Your company manages the employee’s daily work: tasks, priorities, tools, team structure, performance expectations and operational supervision.

This split gives you control over the work while Team Up takes care of the local employment setup.*

*The exact scope of responsibilities is defined in the agreement between Team Up and the client.
